@lavernecox : Oh Facebook memories! I wrote this in 2013 a day after my birthday, before my life would change dramatically with the premiere of @oitnb 2 months later. The sentiment I expressed then feels even more poignant today, a day after my birthday. ... I have realized lately that the challenge isn't finding love but rather receiving the love that's already in my life. I am so overwhelmed and deeply moved by all the love all of you showed me on my birthday yesterday. I am slowly beginning to believe that I deserve all that love not because I am so special but because we all do. I have drunk the "I don't deserve" Kool-aid too long. "Because I am black, because I am trans, because I am from a working class background I don't deserve acceptance, love to thrive and live my dreams." All the love I got from you all yesterday that l I allowed myself to receive helps to de and reprogram all that mess. Thank you all. I know I can't possibly express what your love, support and friendship means to me. ... #TransIsBeautiful
