🔥TRUTH BOMB🔥 . When I was in my 20s, I felt fearless. I would pursue the craziest ideas with reckless abandon. Say yes to everything. Take the biggest risks without even considering the consequences. I had no real career and no money at the time, but I had nothing to lose. A magical place to be. Whatever lit my soul on fire, I found a way to make it happen. But then, as the years passed, life happened. Rejection. Loss. Pain. More rejection. More pain. With every year came another layer of fear. Fear of losing a career I had worked so hard to build. Fear of never living up to my potential. Fear of not being enough. Fear of pretty much everything. I would lay awake at night wondering where the hell that girl went that I used to know. Was she ever coming back? It paralyzed me for years. . And then... a phone call two weeks ago. After pitching a project my production company has been working on, a top agent in the industry that I highly respect told me he had never seen anyone with more moxie. That he was impressed with my resourcefulness and ability to create something so extraordinary from the ground up. (*cue the alligator tears!*). I hung up the phone and first thought he was just totally bullshitting me. I’m not brave! And Moxie?! That’s not me. But then I realized... that fiery girl inside me never left. She was always there, she just sounds a little differently now. What used to be shouting from the rooftops with endless energy has become an internal, deep knowing that everything will be ok. It’s never easy, but it’s always worked out exactly how it’s supposed to. . A beautiful reminder that courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it’s the quiet little voice at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.” For all my soul sisters out there, keep pushing. Don’t forget that tiny voice or that big roar. You are always enough 💗

It's NEVER too late to pursue your dreams. 🌟 . Julia Child, one of America’s most iconic TV chefs and authors, didn’t learn to cook until she was 36. . Stan Lee created his first hit comic title, "The Fantastic Four," just shy of his 39th birthday. . Vera Wang opened her first bridal boutique when she was 40. . Christian Dior founded his luxury goods brand at 41. . Henry Ford created the revolutionary Model T car when he was 45. . Mark Twain wrote "Huckleberry Finn" at 49. . Laura Ingalls Wilder was 65 when "Little House in the Big Woods" was finally published. . Peter Roget invented the thesaurus at 73. . Grandma Moses, America's best-known primitive painter, learned to paint at 78. . If at any point you’ve questioned your path or ability to be successful, a reminder that you're never too old to prosper. 🥰 . . . . . . #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurquotes #entrepreneurlife #itsnevertoolate #nevertooold #keepgoing #successstories #storytelling #noexcuses🚫 #dreambig #dreambigger

Currently editing an episode of #ProjectLuminary featuring the founder & CEO of one of my favorite restaurants, #Sweetgreen. So many awesome nuggets of advice in this one! The moral of the story is that entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint. From the outside it always looks like this beautiful story but on the inside, any entrepreneur knows that every single day you’re on the verge of bankruptcy and world domination. You just have to make it to see another day. . The greatest indicator of your success is what you do when no one is watching. How passionate are you about your dream? Are you willing to grind it out behind the scenes for hours, months, YEARS with zero recognition and fanfare? Shout out to all my hustlers out there making their greatest visions happen! It’s not easy to grind in the darkness, but know you’re never alone. Patience and persistence. You got this 💥 . . . . . #entrepreneurlife #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurquotes #luminarylessons #storyteller #journalist #journalists #founders #founder #producer #keepgoing

Passion is often the first thing to die when problems or pressure emerges. Just a little reminder that you’re awesome and to keep going. Remember why you started, who you’re serving, and what magic you can bring by keeping the fire alive. You got this ❤️

Ah, the creative process: 1. This is a totally genius idea. 2. This is seriously awesome. 3. Wait, this is really tricky. 4. This is taking forever! 5. Ugh, this is shit. 6. I am shit. 7. (A million hours later) This might be OK. 8. This is a totally genius idea. • Haha anyone feel me?! Going through these exact same million hours of emotions the past few months as I bring some projects into the finish line. Doing anything creative is so hard. You just gotta keep pushing through the moments of doubt. The key is to fall in love with the process. ❤️

Before Blake Mycoskie founded @toms, he didn’t know much about fashion, retail, shoes, or anything related to the footwear business. In 2006, he was traveling to Argentina when he serendipitously met some women who were in the country to donate shoes to children, so Blake offered to help. He spent a few days going from village to village, witnessing the intense pockets of poverty just outside the bustling capital. It was heartbreaking. • He wanted to do something more about it, and that’s when the idea for TOMS was born. The concept was simple: For every pair of shoes sold, he would give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. No percentages. No formulas. Most of the local shoemakers there called him crazy and refused to work with him. But Blake finally found someone crazy enough to believe, and together they worked out of a small “factory” - a room no bigger than a garage, surrounded by roosters, burros and iguanas - to create 250 samples which he packed inside a duffel bag and headed to America. • After posting an ad on Craigslist to find some interns to help, one by one, he started selling the shoes. Today, more than 60 million pairs have been donated to children all around the world, and his company has since applied its one-for-one model to other ventures. If Blake would have given in to all the people that said he was crazy, the world would have never received his beautiful gifts. • “Setbacks and fear are inevitable. The thing that distinguishes the ultimate successes from the ultimate failures is this: What do you do with them?” • Keep pushing. Keep believing. And always remember that you can do well AND do good. 💫

Currently editing an episode of #ProjectLuminary featuring John Paul DeJoria, and wow! There are so many powerful lessons from my interview with him. JP has an incredible rags to riches story, going from being homeless (twice) to building multiple billion dollar brands - including @paulmitchell and @patron. His number one piece of advice for success in work and life? “Be prepared for a lot of rejection.” He worked as a door-to-door salesman selling encyclopedias for three years, commission only, no leads. Just like his job, he says in life we need to knock on hundreds of doors, but be just as enthusiastic on door number 101 as we are on door number 1. If he didn’t have that as a remarkable reminder when he started Paul Mitchell out of the back of his car with only $700, imagine where he might be now. . . . . #keepgoing #keepgoingforward #nevergiveupquotes #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurquotes #entrepreneurlife #philantropist #originstories #storytelling #journalist

“There’s only one way to succeed in anything, and that is to give it everything.” Spent all last week pouring over more than 13 hours of transcripts as we edit season two of #ProjectLuminary. If there’s one lesson that keeps coming out in all my interviews, it’s that no one knows what they’re doing in the beginning. Entrepreneurship is scary. You just have to believe in what you’re doing so much that it fuels you to keep going. Past all the failure, all the rejection, all the risks. It’s going to be so much harder than you think, but it’s so worth it. 🙏🙌 . . . . 📷 @karabethnixon

This morning I watched a piece of content I had created and put out a few years ago. I hadn’t really watched it since then, but in what should have been an inspiring moment re-visiting something I worked so hard on, instead the perfectionist inside me couldn’t stop thinking about how terrible it was. It’s a brutal yet beautiful reminder that it’s all part of the process of learning, growing, and getting better. There’s an amazing quote by @iraglass that I know my fellow entrepreneurs and creators will resonate with: . “All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is a gap. For the first couple of years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase. They quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. The most important thing you can do is a lot of work. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.” . So keep creating, as painful as it can be. Your first podcast, first video, first song, first design, first book, whatever first it is that you’re creating, it’s probably gonna suck. But just start. And believe in it so much that it starts to get better, until it becomes remarkable. We got this. 💫

A few weeks ago I had the incredible honor of interviewing @ibtihajmuhammad for my show on @entrepreneur. When I first put together my list of dream interviews, she was the very first person on it. . As an Olympic medalist, change agent, author and entrepreneur, Ibtihaj has empowered young women all around the globe to believe that anything is possible. The first American athlete to compete in the Olympics while wearing a hijab, she is not only celebrated for her accolades, but for challenging the status quo and her unwavering commitment to her authentic self. . With all of her remarkable accomplishments, @time named her one of the world’s 100 most influential people, and a Barbie was even made in her likeness. She is a true role model, a trailblazer, and an icon…breaking barriers and slashing her way into history. . Thank you Ibtihaj, for sharing your remarkable story with us. You are the true definition of what it means to be a Luminary. Catch her inspiring episode when season 2 of #ProjectLuminary premieres this year! #muslimwomensday

My heart is bursting to finally be able to show this video! 💗 . Some of you might remember that back in November I had the blessing of surprising a group of incredible students in Dallas by including them in a special edition of my show, #ProjectLuminary. . I spent an entire day at the school, interviewing them and learning their emotional stories. While I knew it would be an insanely inspiring experience, I had no idea just how much each and every one of them would deeply touch my soul. . Despite their immensely challenging journeys, these kids are a remarkable example of the power of the human spirit. Their resilience and ability to overcome in the midst of adversity at such a young age is truly extraordinary. . I hope their stories serve as a reminder to always believe in the beauty of your dreams, to keep going no matter what, and to forever treat each other with kindness and grace, for we are all connected. We are all one. . To Sandi Massey and the students of Thomas Jefferson High School, we see you. We celebrate you. Keep shining your light. . And to @lukecgrigg of @circle3productions and @luigiboy88, thank you for your magic in helping me bring these beautiful stories to life. I am so grateful. Click the link in my bio for the full video. Would mean the world if you share. 💫 . . . . #rakday #myrakday @patriotnationnews

When you hear the life stories of famous entrepreneurs, founders, inventors, artists, and luminaries, they usually have one trait in common: remarkable perseverance. Most of them failed repeatedly before they experienced massive success. While they all possessed a passion to succeed, it was their “never give up” attitude that defined their life and work. . Oprah Winfrey was fired from her first television job because she was “unfit for TV.” . The manager of the Grand Old Opry fired Elvis Presley after his first performance, suggesting he “go back to driving a truck.” . When he was a young boy, Thomas Edison’s parents pulled him out of school after teachers called him “stupid” and “unteachable.” . Dr. Seuss was rejected many times before publishers accepted his first book. . Jerry Seinfeld was booed off the stage the first time he tried to deliver a comedy routine. . What made these luminaries get back up and try again and again? Perseverance. A little reminder to keep going. Never stop. Never give up. The moment you’re ready to quit is usually the moment right before the miracle happens. 💗💫

A few months ago I got an amazing email from a high school principal in Dallas who happened to have come across the @entrepreneur @justluminate digital series we created, #ProjectLuminary. She told me she was so inspired by our show, that she was going to incorporate the episodes into her leadership classes at the school! Needless to say, I was totally blown away. 💗 She then told me about how incredibly inspiring her own students were. Many are from low-income families, and not only struggle to learn English but have to hold down various overnight jobs just to support their families. Despite their challenges, these kids are powerfully resilient and working endlessly to make their dreams come true. 🙏We wanted to find a way to give back, so we decided to surprise her students with including them in a special edition of #ProjectLuminary, and I’m on my way to film the episode now! #TJHighSchool, we’re coming for you!!! Can’t wait to meet all of you, and Sandi, thank you for being such a remarkable soul and giving us this beautiful opportunity! Catch some of the BTS in my stories tomorrow 💗

Why is it that we have such a hard time loving ourselves? . Even when we know in our heads we are worthy, we don't feel it in our hearts. . We don't believe it when someone says, “You're beautiful, smart, and amazing!!” Instead, we believe that little inner voice whispering, “You're ugly, stupid, and unlovable.” . Why do we say such awful things to ourselves that we would never say to those around us, even to people we don't like? . At the end of the day, there is only one person who will be with you for a lifetime. There is only one person whose love can transform you. And that is YOU. . You are worth finding. Worth knowing. Worth loving. You + all your million layers. Hold that close and never forget it. 💗You are always enough. Just as you are. . @mattgottesman and I went deep on his podcast for @hdfmagazine today about all this and more. We talked about everything from not letting your job define your self-worth, having faith, trusting the process, and the incredible power of vulnerability. Thank you, Matt, for allowing me to reflect on my journey and the lessons learned (which I’m still always learning). Link in bio!

When @sethmattison and I met a little more than 10 years ago, neither of us had anything. I had just gone through a bad break-up, was $100,000 in debt and living with my parents. Seth had recently left his job to pursue a lifelong dream to be a speaker, but it was in the beginning of the worst economic recession we had ever seen and that meant times were tough. So tough that Seth used to drive 30 minutes twice a week to donate blood platelets so he’d have enough to be able to fill his car tank with gas. Date nights often consisted of Stouffer’s Boxed Lasagna in his tiny section 8 apartment or my favorite, fried egg sandwiches (side note: he’s still the best fried egg sandwich-makerer ever). We didn’t have much but we were lucky enough to be rich in love, and blessed with the fortitude to see our dreams through, no matter what. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from Seth is his innate ability to believe that anything is possible. I’ve watched him in total awe going from struggling and working his ass off just to speak for free at the local MN rotary to now, 10 years later, becoming a world-class speaker positively impacting some of the biggest leaders and companies on the planet. Yet through it all, he’s still that same down-to-earth, humble, hard-working, insanely kind kid from a small-town farm that I fell in love with all those years ago. If someone would have told me we’d eventually be building an inspirational media company together, I’m not sure I would have believed them. I know he’d never in a million years post this video (he’d be way too embarrassed) but truth is, I’m so freaking proud and honored to be his wife. Happy birthday @sethmattison! I couldn’t imagine traveling around the sun with any other soul. I love you more than anything and words could never express how grateful I am for you. Thank you for showing me what it means to be a remarkable human. 💗 . . . . 🎥 @whats_a_yayo 🎞 @lukecgrigg 💄 @adamlesimmons

Happy Friday beautiful souls!! This summer has been all about deep work. To starve my distractions, and to feed my focus. @sethmattison and I have had our heads down visualizing what we want to manifest for the rest of the year, and getting laser focused on where we want to take our lives, our careers, and the @justluminate brand next. ✨With all the spiritual work, I unintentionally took a little hiatus from social media. One week turned into two weeks, two turned into four... and apparently it was feeling so good that four turned into six. 😜It made me realize how much social media was using ME, not the other way around. Without it, I’ve been able to feel so much more present and peaceful. But it also can be such an awesome tool to connect (and I missed connecting with you guys!!). My intention for the rest of the month is to figure out a healthy balance. Help this girl out! Any tips for managing it all? 💗 . . . . 📷 @sarahorbanicphotos 💄 @adamlesimmons Bronze: @sprayedbyjade

The power of progress. Small victories add up to huge results. Don't let the magnitude of your victory, no matter how small, discourage you. • As @TimFerriss says, “If you don’t celebrate the small things, you’re not actually going to be very good at celebrating the big things either.” I can SO relate to this!! • As super ambitious humans, it can be really easy for us to become so obsessed with the end-result that we completely miss out on all the milestones and small wins in between. But how the heck can we practice gratitude for the little things that in the end, create the biggest impact? • I just adore Tim’s “Jar of Awesome”concept! The idea is simple: every day celebrate ‘the small wins’ by writing down the amazing things that happened on small pieces of paper. Fold them up and put them in a jar. When you are feeling down, or lacking inspiration, these special nuggets of gratitude will be there to uplift you. • I think we need one of these in our new kitchen, @sethmattison! I’ll be celebrating only hitting the snooze bar once this morning and finally making it to my workout on time. 😜What’s a small win you guys are celebrating today? If you've ever thought about giving up on your goals, @loudimaggio is a shining example of how passion and perserverence can pull you through. In the latest @justluminate episode of #ProjectLuminary in partnership with @entrepreneur and @facebookwatch, I sat down with the incredibly inspirational stand-up comedian, actor, and Emmy winner to talk about the power of never giving up. 💫 . As a rising talent and regular at the iconic “Catch a Rising Star” comedy club in New York City, Lou worked alongside some of the very best in the business, including Chris Rock, Larry David, Ray Romano, and Colin Quinn. 🎤 . But upon moving to Los Angeles in 1989, he stopped doing stand-up comedy forever, and in turn, left behind an essential part of who he is. Now, twenty years after stepping away from the mic, he is stopping at nothing to give it another shot, proving it’s never too late for a second chance.✨ . How do you convince a leader to stop working IN the business and start working ON the business? . According to @babakazad (who is THE master when it comes to massively scaling a business), it’s all about operational excellence. “If you want to build something scalable and sustainable, you’re going to have to have some sort of machine. And that machine is going to have to operate, and if it’s always operating just because of one person, then your chances of success are much lower. It’s a tough conversation sometimes to say you’re going to take some money from the bottom line, because you’ll need to invest - whether that’s in people, in software, or in vendors - if you actually want to build something, it’s an investment. An investment can be scary, and there’s a risk, but ultimately, if you want some sort of scale, you’re going to have to build a machine.” 🙌 . Business is really hard. There’s going to setbacks, there’s going to be challenges, there’s going to be haters, so you have to be in it for the long haul. Be prepared to do whatever it takes. Click the link in my bio to hear more of Babak’s genius insights on the latest episode of #ProjectLuminary! Also find it on @justluminate @entrepreneur and @facebookwatch 🔥

If I could use just one word to describe @jared.kleinert, ambition would be it. Crowned the “World’s Most Connected Millennial” by @usatoday, he published two bestselling books, gave multiple @ted talks, scaled several businesses, and became the go-to marketing and development consultant for numerous venture-backed startups and Fortune 500 companies – all before he was even old enough to drink! 🍺 . I was super curious how this young entrepreneur was able to build such a world-class network in record time, so he sat down with me on #ProjectLuminary for @entrepreneur and @justluminate to spill some of his secrets. . Everyone knows the importance of networking, but what the heck do you do if it doesn’t come naturally and feels SUPER AWKWARD? (I’m totally referring to myself here!) The good news is, building strong relationships shouldn’t have to take years. 🙏 . Click the link in my bio to learn Jared’s strategies so we can start to slay the networking game! 💃🏻

The perks and perils of working from home. . Woohoo, I don't have to go to work today! I feel like a little kid again. . Maybe I should sleep in a little extra, after all, there’s no commuting. . …And I don’t even have to wear pants for this?! . I want to high-five myself because I’m so impressed about the amount of work I can actually get done from bed. . Starting to realize how uncomfortable working on a laptop in bed is after four straight hours…time to move to the couch. . So focused. . Until I realize I’m sitting across from the TV. . Which I think plays re-runs of my fave show #SayYesToTheDress ALL DAY LONG. . Lemme just check Instagram quick. . The only exercise I've gotten all day is walking to and from my fridge. Does chewing count as exercise? . Lemme just check Instagram quick. . OK, maybe I’ll go to the gym - in the middle of the day, woohoo! Who the hell are all these people here right now? Don’t they have jobs? . I love being by myself. . Omg I HATE being by myself!! . Lemme just check Instagram quick. . Ugh. Why does my dog bark EVERY time I try to do a conference call? . No point in showering. How many days can you use dry shampoo without judging yourself? . I no longer have any idea how to talk to a person IRL. . Putting on my bra before 11 am? Massive achievement. Out of pajamas by noon? I’m basically winning at life. 😂 Shout out to all the boss babes, bloggers, and entrepreneurs building empires from home all day, every day!! It can be amazing, but man oh man, it’s also really freaking hard. There are days when I don’t leave my desk, and others when I have zero motivation to actually make it to my desk. Anyone relate?! In this episode, you’ll learn how mindfulness not only saved Sarah’s life, but created a super successful business in the process. She also gives so much amazing wisdom around how to be more kind to ourself. We may not be able to control our negative thoughts, but we CAN control what actions to take. For anyone struggling with self-love, I hope you find her story as powerful as I do 🙏

I’ll be happy when... . I accomplish this goal. . I get a better job. . I make more money. . I buy a bigger house. . I lose 10 lbs. . The list goes on forever. “I’ll be happy when...” is the most dangerous thing you can say. I know this because I was the queen of it. 🙋🏻‍♀️👸🏻And it’s still a major work in progress. Truth is, these exterior things don’t make you happy. And if they do for a moment, the feeling is always short-lived because we just move on to the next bigger/better goal. It’s awesome to have big goals and dreams. But there will always be new goals to make and new mountains to climb. True joy can come only from within, and when we have deep gratitude for the present moment. Exactly as it is now. . So the next time you catch yourself saying, “I’ll be happy when...” Make a change. Decide to be happy now. Make a list of all the things you’re grateful for and of all the reasons you have to be happy. And perhaps the reason why you’ll be happy is because you’ve finally made the decision to be. 💗 And how powerful would that be? . LINK IN BIO for more! What are you grateful for today? Launching another episode of #Elevate today featuring my favorite human @sethmattison! Link in bio! 🙌 . This week’s topic? Tapping into the power of personal accountability. This is SO resonating with me right now! For many of us, as entrepreneurs and leaders, we’ve gotten pretty good at holding other people accountable, but when it comes to holding ourselves accountable to the things that we say we’re going to do, we often fall short. . How many times have you said you were going to call someone, and then never did? 🙋🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ How many times have you made a commitment, and said to yourself, “I’m going to work out in the morning,” and then didn’t follow through? 🙋🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ The list for me goes on and on! I’ve fallen short SO many times!! . But what’s super interesting is the place in our body where we feel it when we don’t follow through on our commitments. You see... as Seth says: Personal accountability requires courage. And the root word of courage is “cor,” the Latin word for heart. In one of its earliest forms, courage meant “to speak one’s mind by telling all one’s heart.” Which is EXACTLY why when we make the commitment to do something and then don’t hold ourselves accountable and not follow through, it actually hurts our heart!!! 💔 . Click the link in my bio to learn three of Seth’s strategies to activate accountability (they’re straight 🔥🔥). What’s one thing you’re taking responsibility for today? . . . . . 📸 @kbdawg 💆🏻‍♀️💄@beautyiconnyc #luminate #bossbabe #womeninbusiness #femalefounders #ladyboss #startuplife #journalist #media #womeninmedia #broadcasting #startupgrind #mediapersonality #entrepreneuress #womeninbusiness #femaleempowerment #womenwhohustle #girlgang #grlpwr #femmepreneur #bossmode #girlboss #girlbosses #bossladies #womeninbiz #femaleentrepreneur #fempire #businesswomen #realwomen #powerwomen

Why embracing stress is the key to success. 🙌 Many of the world’s highest achievers use stress as a fuel rather than a weight. They actually see it as a benefit instead of a burden. An opportunity to test themselves against adversity and difficulty. It’s this type of mentality that has created some of the greatest minds in the modern era. As @justluminate #changemaker @kalepanoho writes: ✨ J.K. Rowling was stressed when she was let go for brainstorming too often at work. As a result, she struggled to feed her family. Finding her path through that stress, she created one of the greatest children’s book series of all time. 📚 Steve Jobs was stressed when he was fired from Apple. When he dealt with that stress, he created another incredible company called Pixar. 🍎 Marcus Aurelius, the Roman emperor and philosopher, whose writings have survived the past 2000 years, actively sought out stress on a day-to-day basis. 📓 These great people not only dealt with stress, they sometimes would deliberately expose themselves to it—to learn, grow and excel. 💪 You’ve been fired? Good, you can now practice the art of interviewing and pitching your skills to prospective employers. 💃🏻 Has your work been deleted on a tight timeline? Great, you can now write it again and with greater insights while testing your time management abilities. 🖥 You’re down to your last dollar and have bills to pay? This is a learning opportunity for being resourceful and finding innovative ways of creating money. 💸 Stress is ultimately a matter of perception and like any obstacle or adverse event, it can be turned to your benefit. “Run to the fire. Don’t hide from it.” 🔥 For smart, small ways you can start embracing your stress today, click the link in bio to hear more incredible insights from @kalepanoho! . . . . . #luminarylessons #megwhitman #quotesandsayings #motivationalmonday #inspirationalquote #embracestress #highperformance #lifetips #businesstips #entrepreneurlife #startuplife #entrepreneursofinstagra

Rejection is tough. We’re going to hear a gazillion no’s before we finally hear that one yes. The hardest part is not letting it affect your self-worth in the process. Every no I’ve ever gotten has been so painful, but I’m so thankful for them because they’ve brought immense growth. Always remember that when we don’t get what we want, it’s usually because something even better for us is coming. Have faith and trust the process 💗

New episode of #ProjectLuminary is live on @entrepreneur and @justluminate! Link in bio! . How one man’s journey to find purpose grew into a global movement. 🙌 Aussie adventurer Sebastian Terry knows the importance of living life to the fullest. Now he’s helping others do the same. . After the loss of a dear friend, @seb100things asked himself one question. “If I died today, could I look back and say I lived a life that reflected my values?” The answer was no, so Terry decided to create a list of 100 things he’d always wanted to accomplish. . That was the beginning of an epic journey which sees him delivering a baby, marrying a stranger in Vegas, crashing the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, getting shot in Columbia, chasing a tornado, skydiving naked, and cycling through Cuba – all in a quest to live without regrets. . “It’s about living in a way that excites you,” Terry says. “The secret to true fulfillment is working out who you are, and then just learning how to be that.” . Sebastian’s incredible story has grown from an entertaining tale of adventure into a global philanthropic movement that engages a tribe of hundreds of thousands to not just set meaningful goals, but to pull the trigger and achieve them - all while helping others do the same. . In this episode of Project Luminary, learn how to set huge goals, overcome your biggest fears, and achieve what’s on your list – no matter how unrealistic. 🎥 @whats_a_yayo

NEW EPISODE OF PROJECT LUMINARY: LINK IN BIO! . According to research, Americans check their phones an average of 80 times a day. Technology has enabled instant and perpetual connection... yet as a society, we feel more disconnected than ever before. . It’s an unintended consequence of innovation that tech pioneer and Silicon Valley visionary Ellen Petry Leanse knows all too well. She spent 35 years working with extraordinary leaders at Apple, Facebook, Google and Microsoft, programming habits that revolved around our devices. . But, what if we could instead program habits that revolve around happiness? Drawing from decades of life lessons as a road-tested entrepreneur, that question inspired Ellen to develop a deeper understanding of neuroscience, design and mindfulness, including how we can hack back. . In this episode, you’ll learn her top tools for reclaiming focus for what matters most, reducing stress, and making time to do the things we love. 💗 . Finding balance. This is something I struggle with. Every. Single. Day. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Is it really possible to pursue excellence and peak performance while maintaining balance? Must we be the mad scientist and the workaholic in order to create high-impact, meaningful work? 👩🏻‍💻 In today’s world obsessed with the hustle and grind, it can certainly feel like it. Some days I totally feel like a boss getting sh*t done. But more and more, all I feel like doing is everything BUT working. Anyone with me?! It’s such an internal struggle. Can I still accomplish big things but not be the crazy person grinding day in and day out? 😳 Imagine how incredible it would be if we could pursue our purpose with peace and ease. The good news is, it’s possible. But it’s not about balance. What we’re really after is harmony. 🙏 @sethmattison put out a beautiful message today of how to activate more harmony into our lives. Click the link in my bio to view. So many good little nuggets in there. He might just be the only one who can get me away from the computer to play 💗

It’s never too late to start. . In 1963, a middle aged Mary Kay Ash was alone, depressed, and jobless. After 25 years in the direct-selling business, she had resigned from her position when a man she had trained was promoted above her - at twice her salary. . Recently widowed (her husband had suddenly died of a heart attack) and alienated from a male dominated workplace, the experience left her in shambles. “I lived across the street from a mortuary and I began to wonder if I should call them up and tell them to ‘come on over,’” she would later say. But her strength and resilience was extraordinary. . Sitting at her kitchen table, she made two lists on a yellow legal pad. One list contained the good things she had seen in companies. The other featured things she thought could be improved. When reviewing the lists, she realized she had created a marketing plan for a dream business. . So, that same year, 45-year-old Ash put her plan into action with just $5,000 in savings and Mary Kay Cosmetics was born. It was a first - a company dedicated to making life more beautiful for women founded on not the competitive rule, but on the golden rule: praising people to success on the principle of faith first, family second, and career third. It was a company - as Ash would say - “with heart.” . In 2015, total annual sales for Mary Kay soared past 4 billion dollars with more than 800,000 independent beauty consultants in 37 countries. Never underestimate the power of a woman with a mission.

Great leaders challenge the status quo. 🚀 . “The board at Apple ran Steve Jobs out of the company calling him crazy and reckless. 12 years later and months away from bankruptcy they came crawling back begging him to come and save them.” 🍎 . “A massive oak tree comes from a single persistent nut. You have to be crazy to change the status quo. It’s not supposed to be easy.” 🌳 . “You were created to be unique, not to fit into a box. Be careful who you get advice from. Many people have a vested interest in seeing you fail. If you succeed and show it’s possible, they can no longer say it’s ‘impossible’.” 🙌 . “‘They’ wanted to have the person committed who came up with the idea for television. ‘They’ thought the idea of a 24-hour sports network was stupid and could never work. ‘They’ called Nelson Mandela a terrorist. ‘They’ called Jackie Robinson unthinkable names.” 👇 . “Be courageous. #Launched. A crazy 18 months. A crazier last 7 days. And the craziest 24 hours of our lives. My soul is bursting with gratitude for the incredible support and love you all have given us this week as we finally rolled out this venture we’ve worked so hard on. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. It truly means more than you know. . This next chapter represents so much more than just a new project. A year ago I was in a very different place. I found myself in deep reflection wondering what my purpose was. So many nights I spent curled up in a ball because I was so fearful of the future. This business is relentlessly tough, and it can start to chip away at our self-worth if you let it. You can start to feel like you’re not talented enough, not good enough, and most of all, not worthy of love. . When Seth pitched me on doing something together, at the time I had no idea what it could become, or that in building it, I would find my own light in the process. The hardest work to make this venture successful lies in front of us, but I am so damn excited to continue to create. . I am overwhelmed with gratitude for every single person who helped us bring this vision to life. To our genius software partners (Mike, Oca, Zach, Pete, Austin), our dearest friends @dawsonbrandon @natalieworkman, our badass UX/UI designer @ashedmo, our awesome attorney @ryadegar, our talented production team @whats_a_yayo @luigiboy88 @lukecgrigg @adinakory @simonecorbett @adamlesimmons @kbdawg, @heatherpsychic and my beautiful soul sister @chelseacannellbriggs and to all our family and friends, thank you. To our incredibly inspiring community of luminaries, changemakers and contributors who believed in the mission from the very beginning, thank you. And most of all, thank you to my best friend and lifelong partner @sethmattison for your undying support and unconditional love. For reminding me of my power and never giving up on me. Words cannot express how much I love you.
