#Nationalsiblingsday Olive and Frankie, my girls, we play “Don’t step on in it” by @hasbro it’s the best game! It’s blindfolded with fake dog poop and you can’t see and you have to not step in the poop! I bought it the other day and it was a wonderful addition to our gaming arsenal! My heart is soaring with all siblings today. There is simply no relationship like it. My daughters are the thing that truly is number one. Number one for fun. And number one for each other. I get out of the way at times so they can grow together! We cultivate the garden of sisterhood. What an amazing part of life I never knew i would experience! Single kid myself. And now I make it about their safe and joyful journey. I’m so happy for them to thrive. The way only siblings can. I’m lucky to be apart of this. My favorite chapter of life! My kids!

I have been in a makeup chair my entire life and truly love learning and sharing beauty tips, products, ingredients... and stories! BUT This week, I’ll be sharing my beauty stories as well as discoveries with you because I watched this short film and thought it was the perfect start to #BeautyJunkieWeek @hairlovemovie is an Oscar®-winning animated short film from Matthew A. Cherry that tells the heartfelt story of an African American father learning to do his daughter’s hair for the first time. This message was so touching and emotional to me as a mother raising two daughters. I had heard about it on the @dailyshow when the filmmaker was on and then my Olive saw it on YouTube and said she had heard about it at school!!! So, we sat down to watch it as a family. I want them to be constantly reminded that beauty starts from within... confidence, love and how you treat others. I thought this film was truly BEAUTIFUL. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. Spoiler alert... I cried watching it, clutching my girls. As we enter International Women’s Month, I am also reminded of how important it is to try and understand other women while supporting them on their journeys... it is up to all of us to raise each other up! We are already beautiful, NOW LET’S PLAY!

The Holidays are an opportunity for all of us to grow our perspectives. And figure out how we give in realistic ways to others, because this is the time of year to ultimately take care of each other. And to me, what is so important, is how we comb over the level of awareness we have and need to care throughout the rest of the year. My favorite thing about the holiday is about to actually become my own epiphany during this podcast. Because when we talk it out and think it out, I came to a very wonderful conclusion that is simple and quiet! And something I have done for and with my kids, that was always something that seemed important when I was growing up. And it’s true! We can create all these incredible narratives at this time of year. Even the ones we idealized as kids ourselves and now have the chance to do as adults for our own kids. Current mood. I Just finished the hardest film I’ve done since Grey Gardens. I play two different women. Candy and Paula. And many characters within them both. I laughed. I cried. I wore prosthetics (by Vivian Baker, the make up artist, who did Grey Gardens with me) (and my Voice coach Liz Himmelstien who is the best in class and taught me Edie Beals voice too!) we wore over 15 wigs by Mr Daniel Howell. Jamie Babbit, our director picked me to be her two actresses! I didn’t think i could truly be different women and not twins. I faced my worst fears. Which was failure to launch let alone pull this off. The film is called “The Stand In” and I am really proud right now. I went method. I didn’t speak to anyone unless i was in one of the two characters voices or names. I pulled crazy hours. I never let go of the fear so that I would keep working harder on this job than I ever have in my life. And i have worked my whole life like it always matters. I started in diapers. My mom put me in front of a camera at 11 months old. And this might be the best work i have ever done since that fateful day. I bared my soul. And the lesson I told my daughters the whole way through making the film (which they would come and visit often) was that if you want to do your best, you have to work harder than you ever have. I also never had two girls to win over and impress like my daughters. If I have made them proud and showed them that an infallible work ethic is key, well than I really did my job. We shall now see how this film turns out. But I loved. I lived. And I kicked some mother ass. And if you feel like this guy looks in this painting after a job well done, than all I have to say is congratulations to anyone that dared to try.

I am not totally sure what Valentine’s Day is supposed to feel like. But when I walked in my trailer today at work and saw that my friend @joyseaboch had put this on my mirror, I knew. I know this... I love my friends. I love my children first of course, but this day is just about love period. And if you don’t have it with a romantic partner (I’m single and have not been able to successfully date for almost four years so what do I know you ask?) I believe with all my heart in the human heart. There are just good days and bad days. Really difficult- test your will to live days. And days where you feel so alive your skin tingles and your smile might just rip your face apart until it floats right up into heaven and you want skywrite about how goddamn happy you are!!!!! But the constant love usually has been my kids and my friends. A type of love that does not require a romantic partnership and navigation. And if you want to read the best thing I have seen in a long ass time about a relationship on love, than read @elainewelteroth Instagram page today. It blew me away. And when I am ready for love I am gonna remember what she said! I have fought my way to a deeper happiness on my own, and i love being independent! It just rules. I am also lucky enough to have two young amazing kids and a full time job, and rad friends. So I’m not sitting around bummed out. I feel stupid grateful. But I’m still a romantic at heart. As for today, don’t waste the day being sad about what you don’t have! Be happy about what you do have. It’s there. I promise.

@santaclaritadiet is really a love story. Thank you Tim Olyphant for being the best partner a girl could ever ask for. We wrapped the third season tonight, and I am just emotional. I am proud to be a part of a show that is a metaphor for empowerment and a marriage where both man and woman are equal. And supportive of each other. Thank you Victor Fresco (our show’s creator) This has been an amazing 3 year journey. When you make movies, it’s not like this usually. You don’t get to live the life of your character over such a long period of time. This is the beauty of television and content. That said when you work for years on something, you also hope it had meaning. That it made sense for you and your family. And that you grew alongside the experience. When anyone works, they know that is time spent away from your kids. You pray it is worth it. That said, my kids loved hanging out on set and these last few years have been very good to us as a family. And life has been good to me with this job. So proud of my girl. She is in the spirit for @beautycon And today is a celebration of expression and artistry. I have loved make up my whole life. Grew up in a make up chair. Worked with all the best make up artists in my day. Learned so much. Was co creative director of Covergirl for seven years and then started @flowerbeauty almost 8 years ago and launched @walmart where everyone could attain and afford what I put my heart into. Now we are also in @ultabeauty and entering new territories and a new era. I’m very proud today. It’s been a long challenging road to maintain this company and stay true to ourselves and yet keep evolving in this Wild Wild West of beauty right now! And the world is better for it. You cannot tantrum if you are breathing and you cannot blow bubbles without breathing. You can’t tantrum while smiling while smiling and you can’t catch bubbles without lots of smiles. Quick distraction to get back to calm”. These are things I really needed as a new parent and I still marvel at them. I have worked with seedlings since my kids were born and still seek their advice regularly. They also make me feel not alone as a parent as well with relatable humor.

#accountsilove. OK Instagram is a wild world. It’s a place that was a place to scrapbook your life for friends and loved ones. Then it became an exhibitionist paradise. And now it’s a business. A place to promote and display your life and what you sell. In this web of many intentions, I personally try to straddle the line of professional, by showing what I am working on or want to bring into the world. And personal, by sharing my life and things I do and use, so that I remain a human being and not a manipulative machine to just try to hawk my latest project. I think about what I post. I curate. I know what is to close to my heart and home or when I feel too exposed. I also know that I am involved in many passions and what a better place to display and share that than on the “sharing platform” of Instagram. I contemplate swan diving off all social media from time to time. I take breaks. And then something will pull me back because I genuinely want to pass it along. And THIS IS WHAT I THINK INSTAGRAM IS. A place to get INFORMATION AND INSPIRATION. So. I am showing #myfavoriteaccounts all week. 5 a day for five days. And this is what I troll. Things that make me think or things that make my pupils dilate or people who are doing things that make me want to keep going too. I hope you like. No worries if you don’t. A few months ago I lightened my hair and it just looked dead! I am was sad. Don’t i look sad? This picture is sad! I wanted to do something to feel more attractive to myself and it totally backfired. Sometimes when you try to improve yourself and your confidence, it can go wrong, and then you feel worse. Haven’t we all had a haircut or a bad eyebrow tweeze or bad hair color and you just want to run home and get in your time machine and have a do over. We know it will just take a little time before things slip back into the comfort zone, but there is also action you can take! These are my fav lips. They are a two in one and that is what we did in her video for herYoutube channel. She did my make up!!!! And we talked about how we love products that can have duo purposes. Like this lip component that has a comfort matte lip on one side and an enhancing light catching lipgloss on the other. So really a three in one. She put lip liner inside my eyes too. To make them enhanced. We did so much multi tasking. Simply put, we had the best afternoon. And I felt so pretty in her make up. And she did my first... well, you will have to watch! Love her so much I can take it!!!!!!

#beautyjunkieweek I have really dark circles. That’s my problem. I don’t have lines as much as I look the crypt keeper. I love laugh lines. Can’t wait for more. But dark circles are a problem, because it looks like instead of being impossibly happy throughout my life, I look more like a ghoul who came from the graveyard! The key is to find a more pigmented eye cream. Rarely, but certainly some times, clear has worked. But I often find white tinted and ones with a light pearl or pinky tone. I have a few faves I will share, but wanted to show a regular morning of living my poison. @flowerbeauty @walmart @ultabeauty

#beautyjunkieweek When your kids want to go crazy in the bath, but you don’t want a ton of residue to clean up! These literally fall of the body and the porcelain of the tub. Yet they are super pigmented like grease art crayons. Amazing. Obsessed. #beautyjunkieweek Start your Monday or any day off with these two beauty inducing drinkable ways. @8greens has an amazing way to get your vital veggies in and @sakaralife has the most beautiful balancing rose water that tastes like your drinking flowers. Every time I indulge in these good practices, I know I am doing something good for myself, but I also feel like a pretty responsible grown up. I’m doing a ritual which almost seems like someone else. I am always running around like a chicken with my head cut off. And I see these women who are like in nice clothes with hair done talking about a tea spoon of this, and just whip this amazing bowl together!? And I’m like “why am I this crazy chicken?” But I can put some stuff in water and feel good about myself and picture that I am in light linen clothes and I have my s!$t together! #beautyjunkieweek Obsessed with this brand and they sent me a sample of this scrub when i asked for their insanely effective tea eye cream for dark circles. To my surprise, my pores shrank to zip. Zero. Tight. I have slightly noticeable pores around my nose and on my inner cheeks. Gross again! Yay. I’m really hitting it hard this beauty junkie week! But there is a huge debate that once pores open, if they can ever can close again? All I know is I can only shrink mine and it’s not easy! I haven’t seen anything that works this fast and effective. I do this scrub 3 times a week and I love it. Try it if this is of interest to you. #beautyjunkieweek part three Don’t get grossed out, because i know it is, but it turned into this when it came off my face. And I am not kidding you, my red mark on my face was NOTICEABLY lighter. And I did it again the next day, with a much milder impact. But in two day it’s was gone. I had even tried bleaching creams, and noting was getting the red spot off my face until this natural remedy. Aloe Vera live plant meat worked to extract the red. Anyway, I keep an aloe plant in my apt in nyc when I don’t have the luxury of finding it in the earth. It’s Also amazing for cuts, scrapes and especially burns. It’s a must have to have around. In any form. Thank you aloe Vera. #beautyjunkieweek ok I know this looks weird, but I had a giant bite or reaction on my face, right in the center of my “try not stare” cheek. It was so distracting. Anyway, I tried the age old myth of aloe Vera. Nothing. Then figuring I had nothing to loose, I dug out the meat of the live plant stalk, which I cut off a plant in my yard and then kept in the refrigerator to reuse, the juice you can squeeze out simply did nothing. So placed a small chunk of it right on my skin. I left it on for about 3 hours plus maybe four...

#beautyjunkieweek OK I know this says it’s for the face, but I use it on hair. It literally has that perfect atomizer that distributes perfectly for waves and curls. Almost like the diffuser on your hair dryer. It can give the hair gentle beachy waves when minimally sprayed on dry hair. And then walk away! Just let it do it’s thing. It will softly separate your stands and give a mild texture. OR you can go to town. Spray a bunch in and scrunch the hair with your hands or dry with a diffuser for lots of kinky fun curl. I also use it on my daughters when they wake up with “fairy hair”. It is gentle and doesn’t leave it heavy or gummy like detanglers can. It’s great for my girls with the wet brush or a mason Pierson type of bristle. I don’t know about you, but my kids are not physched about hair brushing. It’s more like crawling into a Lions den. So thank you Evian! I can do what I need to do with me and myself and the girls thanks to you. I bet you are dope on the face too! @flowerbeauty @ultabeauty @walmart

#BEAUTYJUNKIEWEEK HAS BEGUN. Your beauty routine starts at this line, and we must work upward! We forget our neck and chest!!!! this me directly after a clear and brilliant laser treatment (which i highly recommend) It’s as light as it gets and is non invasive. But it helps me with my crazy level 10 Malasma after babies. And the Dermatoligist said to me, “don’t forget, your beauty routine starts from here up” and made this exact line on her chest. And I can’t forget it. We know this, but we don’t do it. I don’t. I love my skin care routines. But I forget anything below the chin. So next time you go to wash your face, remember this hand on your chest and work upwards!!!!! Ps. Remember. I don’t get paid or encouraged to post anything during this week.
