It wasn’t enough that the universe said we would be born on the exact same day of the exact same year. It wasn’t enough for us to get matching first tattoos (I know I wimped out but I got it eventually) and then again more matching tattoos when we were 30. It wasn’t enough to be the high priestess at your wedding. Or for you to be the maid of honor at mine. And this year when we were celebrating our daughters first birthday your son entered the world. So now they will get to walk this wild and wonderful path together. Just one day and one year apart. Talk about some weird cosmic balance. There is no amount of you @ladyluofthewolves that would suffice to be “enough” for me. I am constantly wanting more, more, more. That’s just what a beautiful incredible soul you are. These past 365 days have been the most challenging, hilarious, sleepless, giggle filled, food-on-the-floor, heart-beating-out-of-my-chest, WONDERFUL, life-changing days I have ever experienced. Our daughter, Aurora is 1 year old today and she has already filled @halfadams and me with more joy and gratitude than our souls can handle. All I want to do is return the favor, but the world we are giving her isn’t the world we grew up in. The oceans aren’t the same, the ice caps, the amazon rainforest, the hurricanes are more destructive, the summers burn hotter, the winters are colder, the animals are disappearing, the coral reefs bleaching, the very air we breathe is different.. changing in crisis. So today for your birthday, my daughter, I am making a promise. Confronting climate change has to be a priority. For me and for our family. A daily fight. A monthly donation. At the front of our minds.... A decade, an epoch practically unheard of in television. That is how long @suits_usa has been a part of my (and all of our lives.) I will never forget the first time I said goodbye to @halfadams I watched him pack his bag (after I tried to fit myself in it) and we talked about how scary and exciting it all was and what it would be like... how could we ever possibly know... One visit to NYC and a million more to Downsview Toronto later and this show has changed my life. Dear suitors you have always welcomed me with loving arms. Dear incredible cast and crew of suits you let me sleep, eat and live (and even act) in your workspace and i am so indebted to you for it. And dear Patrick. Watching you create the beautiful beating bleeding heart that is Mike Ross is something I will never forget. You poured your talent, your blood and your soul into this show. You stepped into the role of director with total ease. And you created a character that will go down in tv history. It was never easy to say goodbye to you year after year to watch you return to Suits (in fact it was probably some of the hardest work I’ve ever had to do), but I am so grateful for everything I learned in the process and the family we built because of it.

#worldbreastfeedingweek I would never have thought something so simple would be so complicated. My milk came in immediately (so lucky!) my daughter has always eaten well (little bit of reflux but all good) and breastfeeding her was never painful or frustrating (SO RARE) but the mastitis🥴, waking up in the middle of the night to pump😴, pulling off on the freeway to pump, or hiding in dark corners of houses while pumping or else I can’t sleep it’s SO PAINFUL🥵 (I’ve included the most glamorous I’ve ever looked while feeling like an effing cow) having to be conscious of everything I put or do not put in my body (it’s been almost two years if you count pregnancy) and that means alcohol, medication, even melatonin! I can’t even join in all of this cool CBD stuff that’s happening.But... no matter how much I HATE pumping or how complicated MY relationship with food is, it has been a joy, an honor and a no brainer to feed my daughter this way. 🙌🏽 My body has made it easy for us and i have loved every moment i get to spend this kind of time with her. Not every mother gets that. I don’t know if I will have it for much longer, but I will always take care of her and do what is best for us. (Once again f*ck pumping. Love you forever babay girl)

So back on the first season of @prettylittleliars I brought my aunt’s nikon camera from the 70s to set and I photographed some of the cast and crew. I ended up photographing @shaymitchell a lot because... she’s gorgeous (duh) but as you can see from some of the photos I took she’s not only beautiful on the outside but she is magnetic. Whether lost in thought or radiating some magical ethereal joy she is just someone you want to be around. Because when you do get to be around her she makes your life a whole lot better. So I’m thrilled to say, Happy birthday to my friend, Shay. I’m so grateful that somehow after PLL ended we managed to grow even closer and I know this year is gonna be the best one yet. Don’t ask me how. I’ve just got a knack for telling these things. ❤️

Guys! You now number 12 MILLION! That is wild and awesome and I am grateful to have this platform and be able to speak to so many of you. SO, if I could have your attention for a moment I would love to tell you about Sophie Grace Taylor @superstrongsophie and her family. I do not know Sophie or her family but I have been following her positive cancer journey and her battle with Osteosarcoma on IG. She has been an inspiration to me and I am in awe of her strength and the love of her parents and siblings. Tragically, Sophie recently passed away and I cannot imagine the pain her loved ones are feeling. I know just getting to know her through her account has been a gift to me even though i am a total stranger. So I wanted to give back to Sophie and her memory. Her parents have established a go fund me page so her name can live on and I have made a donation. It would mean so much to me if you guys would check out the page (link in my bio). My greatest hope was that I could experience those months without public comment or exposure, without being asked by the outside world to define my experience or my feelings around it. Because until she was born everything felt truly undefined and open ended. Looking back now, I want to express an ocean of gratitude for the people who held this space for me, this privacy for me and for the time I was able to take to experience it. I haven’t wanted to post in awhile, because I haven’t quite known what to say and I have been trying to figure out what is the best way to honor my community and in particular the two beautiful souls of @z_electric & @ladyluofthewolves. Instagram isn’t the place but there is also no way to move forward (in my experience on social media) without honoring them both and the loss that they have experienced. There is so much noise here. There is much of life to be celebrated and shared and this platform is a mishmash of advertisements, sales, personal photos and funny memes (and thank god for the funny memes) but I have to be honest these days I haven’t known where I fit into all of it. Except that when tragedy struck my best friend and her husband, I saw a community, no, an army of people come to their side. We made phone calls and cooked food and held space and each other and did our best to be there for them during an unimaginable time of sadness and loss. I want to thank my community for your work and love and I want to thank Justin and Lu. Your love, your marriage and your strength have inspired me, your resilience and kindness have humbled me and I am still standing in awe next to the two of you as you continue to walk through the fire. There is still so much work to be done, but I am relieved we have the two of you to lead the way. To my followers, thank you for supporting and respecting their privacy during this time and I want to encourage you to tell your friends and family how much you love them and do what you can to lift one another up today and in all the days to come.

Alright. So now we’re here. It is important to address that the image I (and many others) previously posted of a young Honduran girl in distress is not the ideal image to represent the crisis of families being separated at our borders. It is still upsetting but it is important, as I am someone who believes in facts and news (because fake news is just lies and facts are not opinions. There is no my truth and your truth. It’s just the truth also please stop just randomly making up statistics Mr Trump) so I want to make sure it is clear that I am aware that that specific young girl is now with her mother THANK GOODNESS. And that our president has issued an Executive Order stating that families will not be separated but will remain together in detention. (Interesting that just two days ago he said only congress could do this but hey who’s paying attention we’re all new to this government, Donald, take your time) so now we are back to the Obama era policy of detaining families together (for a limit of 20 days while their cases are being processed) it’s not A SOLUTION but at least (for the moment) no more families are being separated... we are being told. But here are some images of the detainment centers for families and what’s important to remember is that out of the 2,300 children who have been separated only 500 have been reunited (again that is just what we are being told) and there is NO PLAN in place to unite the other separated children. So there is still work to do and this situation is not solved by any means. Because treating asylum seekers like criminals is NOT A SOLUTION. If you want to read a really great breakdown of what has been happening and what is currently changing I’ll include a Link in my bio. I just ask that we Americans stay on top of our outrage. Listen to what both the liberal and the conservative media are saying and then make your decision. That is my mother in the top RIGHT of the photo. Well before I would come to know her. When we are born we think there was never a time our parents had before us. So to learn about the incredibly talented, smiling beauty in this photo well before I called her mama is something I treasure. This woman grew up in the cold of the south side of Chicago, 1 of 4 girls. She studied psychology, spent long hot summers in Baton Rouge. She bravely moved her whole life to the west coast before she was 20 years old. Danced with Fred Astaire and Debbie Reynolds. She sang with Dean Martin. She was an actress of the stage and the screen. And then, luckily for me, she had her first child. I know you have accomplished so much in your life. @nickbellisario and I are so proud to be counted amongst your many creations. Love you mom. #happymothersday
