@samantharonson : It’s much easier to find the words when the stakes aren’t so high. Sitting here now typing and erasing because I want to say the right thing that will make you want to be the difference, that will make you want to donate whatever you can, that will even just make you take a moment to educate yourself on what is happening to children in 2019 in The United States Of America - you know- “the land of the free and the home of the brave” that place- the photos are horrifying and the text that describes the what- what you hear, smell, taste, and touch- it’s even hard to read- but as much as we might want to turn away- pretend it isn’t happening- we can’t- because if we don’t do something, who will? As a Jew who is well educated on what happened during the holocaust I think about those who did nothing then and thank those who fought to do the “right” thing. Those who knew that just because policy supported the actions of the government at that time, it didn’t make it “right.” Children in cages. Dying. If they were puppies these places would be shut the fuck down. Think about that for a second. #Repost @mandanadayani ・・・ I know you’ve seen the photos. I know you’ve heard the gruesome accounts. And I know it makes it harder to shut your eyes at night. And yet, you still remain silent. Maybe because you don’t think it will matter. Maybe because you don’t think you have “enough” followers. Maybe because you are defeated from the political toxicity. But it’s time. You have a community, an obligation to one another. And you just need to say something. You have a voice. If for no other reason, than on behalf of those who have none. There are thousands of children in horrifying conditions, alone, helpless, ill and terrified. On US soil. It’s happening. And you need to take a position. Even if it’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done.
