@ajanaomi_king : I couldn’t be more proud to call you my friend @mattmcgorry and thank you to all the other men out there that understand that women aren’t the only ones that need to engage in this conversation and action to make a change! Repost @mattmcgorry I can’t overstate how proud I am to be part of @wearemanenough, and in particular, this episode. (Swipe for trailer) * It should not solely have to be on women to call out sexual harassment and misogyny. Men need to take up this burden as well. So far women & specifically women of color have led the global movements in regards to battling sexism and gender inequality, but we as men have barely entered the conversation. This has to change. We need to do some serious self reflection. And then we have to ACT. In order to be a part of the solution, there are a number of principles that I strive to live my life by now (having made plenty of mistakes in the past & undoubtedly with more to come in the future). Three of those core principles are to Listen, Amplify, and Unlearn. On #ManEnough, we discuss negative mindsets that can be improved upon and in doing so how we can change negative patterns of behavior, create culture-shifting dialogue and in turn, move towards a better future. We do this because we know that so many of the harmful pressures of what it means to be a “real man” in our culture also leads us away from being true allies and accomplices to women and non-binary people. And we know that no one is free until we are all free. Through conversation, honest dialogue, and real-time action we hope to redefine what it means to be men in both The United States America and globally.
