@katiecouric : Carrie asked me in lieu of a graduation gift to support one of the many organizations helping the children being ripped from the arms of their parents, many of whom are seeking asylum here from violence, war and crime. My friend Claire Goldsmith did some research and recommended RAICES. This non-profit provides free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees in Texas. They also help pay bonds to get parents released. It has a 30-year track record working on the ground representing children and families in immigration court. In 2017, their staff closed 51,000 cases for free. Link to donate in my bio. Other groups that are doing good are CARA - Family Detention Pro Bono Project, @SupportKind and @txcivilrights. I’m going to donate in honor of Carrie. Maybe there is someone you’d like to honor in your life by supporting these incredible organizations.
