@katiecouric : For today’s #WednesdayWomen, I wanted to highlight a young woman I admire so much. Her name is Julienne Gede Edwards (@julienne_edwards) Julienne had just graduated from law school with a JD and a masters in music business and entertainment and was studying for the bar when she suddenly began experiencing abdominal pains. A tumor was found in her colon, and after an emergency surgery, Julienne received a heartbreaking diagnosis - stage IV colon cancer at the age of 26. In the midst of receiving treatment, Julienne studied for and passed the bar exam AND became an advocate for cancer patients. She got involved with organizations including the American Cancer Society, National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, and Fight Colorectal Cancer. That all began in 2015, and now in 2018 - Julienne is unstoppable. While still battling her cancer, she beautifully sang the national anthem for her hometown team, the Baltimore Ravens while hooked up to an oxygen tank. Julienne is a true warrior, and stories like hers inspire me to never give up and to stand up against this disease that has affected the lives of so many.
