@katiecouric : Rose Mallinger’s grandson, who has been so dear to me through Instagram during this devastating time, just sent me a photo of his grandmother with a statement from the family which he said I could share with all of you. It reads as follows: “Rose was Bubbie to us, Yiddish for grandma. She was an incredible woman and a pillar of the Jewish community of Squirrel Hill for more than sixty years. The Tree of Life Synagogue was the center of her very active life. To Bubbie, family was everything. She knew her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren better than they knew themselves. She retained her sharp wit, humor and intelligence til the very last day. We will miss her presence and her company greatly.” I know everyone joins me in sending the Mallinger family our heartfelt sympathy. Rest In Peace Rose. 🥀 1921-2018
