@katiecouric : California has been through so much this week. Now, three fires, Camp Fire, Hill Fire, and Woolsey Fire are currently burning through Northern California and around Ventura County and Malibu at an alarming rate. The Camp Fire burned 70,000 acres in just 24 hours. Part of the reason these fires are spreading so fast is because there is also a downslope windstorm coming from the east off the crest of the Sierra Nevada. It’s terrifying and heartbreaking. 9 people have died in the fires, and countless homes and business have been lost. As I post this, the fires have only been 5% contained. Authorities estimate they won’t be fully contained until November 30th. Two of these fires are just a few miles from Thousand Oaks, where the mass shooting took place on Wednesday. I’m thinking of all those affected, and the brave firefighters who are working tirelessly to put these fires out. Please stay safe.
