@katiecouric : On Wednesday morning, President Trump and Mrs. Trump visited American troops in Iraq. This is the first time in Mr. Trump's nearly two years as President that he's gone abroad to visit members of the military. This secret trip came at a less than ideal time - the government is currently shut down, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has resigned, and less than a week ago, Mr. Trump announced plans to withdraw all American troops from Syria and half from Afghanistan. Mr. Trump addressed the troops in Iraq saying "We're no longer the suckers, folks. Our presence in Syria was not open-ended, and it was never intended to be permanent. Eight years ago, we went there for three months, and we never left. We're spread out all over the world, we're in countries that most people have never even heard about and frankly, it's ridiculous."
