@katiecouric : Good morning, everyone!☀️ Today’s #GoodGuy is Nathan Alexander, a mathematics professor at @morehouse1867. One of Nathan’s students, senior Wayne Hayer arrived to class with his five month daughter Assata because he couldn’t find a babysitter and had nobody else to watch her. “I had a book bag on and a baby strapped to my chest. I looked crazy,” As he approached the door, Hayer said he felt intimidated. “Then Dr. Alexander saw me and welcomed me with open arms.” Dr. Alexander said “No problem, in fact I will even hold her so you can take better notes in class.” And he taught the entire lecture with the child in his arms (BTW while he was teaching, little Assata fell asleep and Dr. Alexander joked “I guess my lecture must be really boring!” 🤣🤣) and also stayed after class helping students with questions about the lecture. “There’s an idea of what a student is and we don’t think about ways to support parents that are students. That’s where I come in,” Dr. Alexander said. “Community matters. I want a world where Wayne doesn’t feel like he can’t get ready for his exam even though his child care fell through.” I absolutely loved this and the students at Morehouse are lucky to have a professor like Dr. Alexander! ♥️👏🏼 #thegoodguys #thursday #inspiration
