@katiecouric : 23 people were killed in eastern Alabama and at least 100 were injured when a massive tornado struck the area on Sunday - more than doubling the death toll from all tornadoes nationwide last year. The storm was almost a mile wide with winds as powerful as a Category 5 hurricane. It left a path of destruction more than 20 miles long in Lee County. Six tornadoes struck on March 3rd near Beauregard, an area that rarely sees such strong storms. The National Weather Service said that the tornado in Lee County had a preliminary EF-4 rating, the second-strongest category, with winds as strong as 170 mph. Parts of Georgia were also affected by the tornado. President Trump arrived in Auburn, Alabama today with the First Lady and their son, Barron. They will head to Lee County with the Governors of Georgia and Alabama to view the damage.
