@katiecouric : Today is the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in Normandy, which was the starting point for the liberation of Nazi occupied Europe during World War II. Allied troops from the US, UK, France and Canada landed on the Normandy coastline and attacked the German troops stationed there. 7,000 shops and landing crafts were involved, and 156,000 men were dropped off along the beaches of Normandy - as many as 4,400 troops died from the combined allied forces and some 9,000 were wounded or missing. President Trump addressed veterans today in Normandy at the grave site of more than 9,380 American service members who were killed in the World War II landings. “To the men that sit behind me and to the boys that rest in the field before me, your example will never grow old.
