@katiecouric : I love this!💓#repost from @womenshistory: As we celebrate the heroes who landed at Normandy on #DDay, we also celebrate Nancy Harkness Love, Jacqueline Cochran, and the 1,074 women in the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) program who served their country bravely during World War II. From 1942 to 1944, they ferried over 12,000 military planes, completed countless domestic missions, and flew over one million miles in service of the war. The WASPs served their fellow American women for decades after WWII by creating a legacy of female empowerment and achievement. As the first women to fly for the US military, they blazed the trail for women to serve equally in the US Air Force.
