@cturlington : With #TedWomen kicking off this week, I’ve been reflecting on my experience last year presenting at @tedwomen 2017. I have been a global maternal health advocate since becoming a mother in 2003 but speaking on the Ted stage about the maternal health crisis in the United States was terrifying. 🙈 Still, I stand by every word that I wrote, (and read) and for all the efforts I have made over the years, recounting my birth story and sharing countless stories of other mothers to raise awareness about the challenges and opportunities in maternal health - all to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother, everywhere.
