@clarencehouse : The Prince of Wales visited the Kielder Salmon Centre yesterday as part of #royalvisitnorthumberland. His Royal Highness heard how the centre, run by the @envagency, breeds 360,000 salmon each year and releases them into the River Tyne catchment. During HRH’s visit, The Prince also saw the centre’s work on pearl mussel conservation. Pearl Mussels are currently classed as more endangered than the Giant Panda. Therefore, the team at Kielder Salmon Centre are breeding pearl mussels to try and prevent them from going to extinction. The Prince has long been a supporter of wildlife conservation and has been Patron of @salmontroutcons since 2003. #RoyalVisitNorthumberland
