@clarencehouse : 🎉 Happy 100th Birthday to Mr Peter Heppell! The Prince of Wales met Mr. Heppell earlier this week during a reception for the Burma Star Memorial Fund, held at Clarence House. 76 years ago today, on his 24th birthday, Mr. Heppell boarded a glider to be taken into Burma, having trained to be a Chindits. He was wounded and reported missing, with his family receiving a telegram that he was presumed dead before he was able to contact his mother while recovering from a number of injuries, which included shrapnel in his leg. After spending time in hospital in India, Mr. Heppell was brought back to the UK in 1945 and the next year started working at his father’s advertising agency. Wishing Mr. Heppell a wonderful day!
