@gabunion : We survived a day without Instagram! And I will not let it deter us from celebrating amazing women... so this week’s day-late #WCW goes out to basketball superstar, @candaceparker. I first met Candace, a Chicago native, at a party and I fan-girled hard and told her I had watched her dominate at Tennessee under legendary coach Pat Summit… and we've been cracking jokes and playing spades ever since. Falling in love with the game of basketball after seeing older brother & former NBA Player Anthony Parker play, Candace worked hard to become one of the best players of all time. Watching her win the WNBA championship after the passing of Coach Summit was one of most heartbreaking and heartwarming moments in sports history. Being first overall pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft, a WNBA Champion, 5x WNBA All-Star, 2x WNBA MVP, 2x NCAA championship winner, and a 2x Gold Medalist are just a few of her outstanding accomplishments throughout her basketball career thus far. Parker is more than just a star on the court, she is also a major inspiration to all of those around her. Off the court, Candace is a mother of a 9 year old, broadcaster on the popular “Player’s Only” & an inspiration to women everywhere. Let us lift her up in the light of goodness and hold her there.
