@gabunion : Today’s #WCW is the trailblazing Halima Aden, who just made history as the first model to wear a hijab and burkini for @si_swimsuit!! @halima was born in Kakuma refugee camp in northeastern Kenya and moved to the states when she was only 7 years old. She stated, “Growing up in the States, I never really felt represented because I never could flip through a magazine and see a girl who was wearing a hijab. Being in Sports Illustrated is so much bigger than me. It’s sending a message to my community and the world that women of all different backgrounds, looks, and upbringings … can stand together and be celebrated.” It’s time to celebrate YOU and all the women that are encouraged to feel beautiful for who they are. Thank you Halima for being a leader and showing women globally that beauty comes in many forms and has no limits. Let us lift her up in the light of goodness and hold her there.
