She unpacked implicit bias, which is sewn into the very fabric of our culture, and how it harms each of us and culture as a whole. I cannot tell you how important it is to listen to her on podcasts, watch her interviews, and read her book. If we want know where to start, what this is all about, what people of color face in America at the hands of whiteness as an ideology, or how to help, we must stop asking those affected to do the emotional labor. This is a good place to start learning, and unlearning too. • I got to sit at the feet of two of my greatest teachers, @oprah and @cherylstrayed, and listen to them converse on life and purpose. Oprah said, “You are damaged in direct proportion to how you were loved or not. You real job is to figure out ‘what is it that I really need?’” It’s an inside job. We have to do the work. We have to own our pain and pursue our joy. We have to lift each other up.
