@kristenanniebell : It’s #FeaturedTeacherFriday and I’m happy to share Priscilla Geronilla’s story with you! (Her amazon wishlist is in my bio! 💥) “Hi! I’m a 31 year old teacher in Cowboy Capital of the world, Oakdale, CA! This is my 8th year teaching now. I have previously taught first grade for six years, and this is my second year in fifth grade. My motto in the classroom is to make my students feel like family. I truly believe students won’t remember every single thing you taught them, so I try to teach them how to be better human beings, too. To instill life lessons, manners, and how to make it in the real world. I open up to my students about my story and about who I am as a person outside of the classroom, too, just like I want to learn about them. To me, making those connections is the most important thing. My school is the largest school in Oakdale with over 800 students and we are heavily agricultural-based town. Our school is composed of all different walks of life and ethnicities. We pride ourselves on teaching character traits at our school across the board. All of our assemblies and awards are given out based on students continuing to work on “Being the Best Me”. We focus on teaching students things like respect, tolerance, responsibility, fairness, self control, determination, and so forth. Oakdale overall is a very close knit community and very home town proud.
