@lavernecox : Still in some vulnerability hangover after that crying video I posted. God, I have had the impulse to delete that video so many times. But I am leaving it up for today. I haven't read any of the comments on that video. What I have learned about vulnerability is that sharing it in unsafe spaces, to people who aren't safe is super dangerous to my mental and emotional health. So not reading comments on something that vulnerable is self preservation and self care. I shared it because I thought it was important, bigger than my insecurities. If by sharing my grief I gave 1 person space to grieve as well and begin to heal, it was worth it. I have gotten some beautiful messages from folks who have said that by sharing my grief it gave them permission to grieve as well. That's what I want to hold onto, not any potentially negative comments ... I am aware that there are some folks who are dismissive and worse of what I shared. As I think about that, the thought of what it means to have the courage to stand alone, to belong to oneself, in one's own truth and values comes up for me. And I thought about this solitary moment in the car on the way to the Met Gala earlier this month and this quote from #MayaAngelou came to me: "You only are free when you realize you belong no place — you belong every place — no place at all.
