@lavernecox : Since receiving my third Emmy nomination last week for the 6th season of @oitnb, I have been thinking a lot about how 5 years after my first primetime Emmy nomination, I am still the only openly trans person to be nominated for an acting Emmy. No openly trans person, of course, has won an acting Emmy. . The only trans person to win a major acting award is @missmyataylor who won a @filmindependent Spirit award in 2016 for the movie "Tangerine". This video is of that historic moment. ... Many brilliant actors never get nominated for or win awards. If we can touch one life with our work that is reward enough. Shout out to all the trans actors out there working and looking for your first or next acting job. I have been there. Hang in there. Shout out to all the guest actors and day players out there.
