@michelleobama : School counselors play such a crucial role in the lives of our young people, pushing them to dream big, supporting them in times of crisis, and helping them see their own limitless potential and reserves of resilience. Laura Ross does all of that and so much more as a school counselor at Five Forks Middle School in Lawrenceville, GA. Using the principles of restorative justice, she’s reduced the number of discipline referrals for students of color. She’s hosted presentations about body confidence for her fellow educators, helping them better understand the challenges so many young people are facing. And she’s leading the charge to make sure her school is an inclusive, welcoming place for LGBTQ students.
