@mattmcgorry : I am eternally grateful for having discovered White People 4 Black Lives ( @wp4bl ), Alliance of White Anti-Racists Everywhere (AWARE-LA) and Showing Up For Racial Justice (SURJ) a few years ago. I can safely say that being a part of these organizations and working with our People of Color-led solidarity orgs has been absolutely essential to my growth as an activist. # As white people, we need to take responsibility for our journey of anti-racism. Yes, we need to learn from the endless information that POC have put into the world about these issues (and follow/amplify activists of color on social media), but we can’t sit around waiting for POC to hand us the tools to be better allies. Expecting POC to have to personally educate us while they’re also experiencing racism is an enormous and unfair expectation that comes from a mindset of privilege. (More on this in comments section below) # Repost from @wp4bl - WP4BL is one part of a three-part chorus of white anti-racist work along with #AWARELA Saturday Dialogues and The UnMasking Whiteness Institute. Synergistically developing community-building, consciousness-raising and self-reflecting practices. As one of our members shared at our last general meeting: “Attending Saturday Dialogues helps me be my healthiest, most anti-racist self when showing up to take action.” Join us! _ Saturday Dialogue is free, open to the public. SD usually takes place on the first Saturday of every month, 1:00-4:00pm on the Westside of Los Angeles, on the third Saturday of the month, 1:00-4:00pm on the Eastside of Los Angeles, and on the fourth Saturday of the month, 11:00am-2:00pm in Claremont (Northeast L.A. County). If it's your first time, it is best to confirm the date/time with us by emailing awarela *at* gmail.com • visit https://www.awarela.org for more details. _ Outside of LA? Find your local chapter here: http://www.showingupforracialjustice.org _ If you can't make a meeting, you can find additional tools here: https://www.awar
