@mattmcgorry : It’s important to celebrate when we accomplish something together when are in the Movement for the long haul. We know that voting is just one tool, and that mobilizing, base building and organizing is truly where the power to create change is. I want to start by acknowledging and honoring Black Women who have continued to trailblaze in their bold and powerful leadership. I am blessed to have powerful Black Women in my life with whom I share this journey toward justice together. Thank you to the phenomenal nonbinary leaders of color who are leading the way! We also have our first ever Somali-American and Muslim Woman in Congress. So many amazing firsts… * * Also want to acknowledge in my hometown in LA we ousted Sheriff McDonnell and now have Alex Villanueva, who has made significant promises to community groups and we plan to hold him accountable. S/o to my comrade @osopepatrisse and so many others in this huge effort! * * CALLING-IN WHITE PEOPLE, especially white women *continued in comments* We must, must, must do better ya’ll. We must dust off the indoctrination of white supremacy and truly overstand our humanity is at stake until we SHOW the FUCK UP and work toward a vision of true freedom and Liberation for all people.
