@elliegoulding : Earth Day 🌎🌍🌏 Moment of truth- Sometimes it is really hard for me to stay positive 😞 I have always felt very lonely in what I do as a musician, and I feel even lonelier as an environmentalist. Don’t get me wrong, I know I’m not alone, but it doesn’t stop the loneliness. Often I feel like my efforts are in vain, and I get torn between protecting my job, and wanting desperately to protect the world around me and do everything in my power to turn things around. People sometimes say, “Use it an inspiration” but trust me, it is really difficult to sit down and write in the studio about anything other than how frustrating it is that the powerful and influential people in this world simply aren’t doing enough, as much as I try with all my might to write as freely and passionately as I normally would. Some days I have just cried and cried. I have felt totally and utterly helpless. Despite this strange sadness, the student strikes, @gretathunberg , and @extinctionrebellion have given me a lot of hope, and I spent a good few hours writing yesterday for the first time in ages. To those who question Extinction Rebellion and resent their actions, on the contrary, we owe them huge debt of gratitude. The #climateEmergency is now an undeniable, unmissable fact thanks to you. Thank you for protecting our collective future & demanding the truth ✊🏼I am SO so proud of my fans and my fellow eco-warriors and I have so much love and admiration for you.
