@thereallacey : #FBF Going through old photos and I came across this one. I was struck by how similar Julia and I are here at this age. This was taken at my Nanny and Pa Paw’s dining room table. When I was little, birthdays meant wearing your favorite shirt (Care Bears) and having a delicious fancy sheet cake from the grocery store. There’s something comforting about the simplicity of it all. I also love the cross-stitched framed piece that my grandmother made and hung on the wall- “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” I guess all this made me remember that all we really have is THIS DAY. What a gift this day is! I’ll be the first to admit that I very easily get caught up in the stresses and anxieties of the day-the should’ve -would’ve -couldv’es, my to-do list, and the feeling of being overwhelmed. But, I’m such a better version of myself when instead of allowing stress to overtake me, I decide to make the CHOICE to focus on all that I’m grateful for. I’m so much better served by living in a state of gratitude for this day, this moment, and finding as much joy in it as I possibly can. It seems so simple and yet I constantly need this reminder. Can anyone relate? So, thank you God for this day! ...and for cake. Cake is good too ;)
