@thereallacey : I want to pay tribute to Roger Finlay. Roger was a very talented camera operator. We recently worked together on three movies. He was a true collaborator. I’ll never forget this one day when we were working together in Toronto. We were filming my close up for a scene and the director called cut and indicated that we’d be moving on to the next shot. I guess Roger saw the look on my face and understood that I wasn’t quite happy with my performance and was left feeling unsettled because I felt I could do better. For some reason I was being shy to speak up and ask for another take. I’m not normally shy to ask to go again, but in that moment, I was. So, he quietly said, you don’t seem satisfied, want to go again? Before I could even finish nodding yes, he called out to the director and 1st AD that the camera department had an issue on that last take and we needed to go once more. He took the responsibility for doing another take which took the pressure off of me. My eyes tear up as I type this because it was just such a kind gesture. He understood that we are all a team when on set and one of his teammates (me) needed a little extra support in that moment. It might not seem like that big of a deal but on that day, to me, it was. Isn’t that one of the greatest things we can do in life? To be there for each other? I think so. I will forever appreciate the kindness he showed me on those three movies. To his beautiful wife Anett, I send my love and support and deepest condolences. May Roger Rest In Peace.
