@bobsaget : Hard to believe it was 35 years ago today, May 16, that we lost one of the most brilliant and original voices comedy has ever known at 35 years of age… Andy Kaufman. And today’s a special day – – Because today is the day we lost him— with George Shapiro and Robin Williams at his side. Thank you my dear friend as well as the manager and confidant of Andy— the amazing @george_shapiro —for sending this to me. I was so deeply honored, being such a huge fan of Andy’s, to co-host an NBC special devoted to Andy— along with Mary Lou Henner, Lily Tomlin, and my pal and mentor Rodney Dangerfield. Andy changed comedy so much, and not unlike today, many didn’t understand what a true genius and loving human being he was – – on top of being a truly hilarious, original and unique anomaly.
