@rowanblanchard : I struggle to find words for how it feels to look at the news right now. Struggling to find anything more worth paying attention to then the haunting sounds of children crying for their parents in that audio tape that was released, and the volatile sounds of the ICE agent cracking jokes about the same sobbing children sounds. Photos of children in fucking cages. News headlines of 16 year old immigrant girls being held in the cages learning how to take care of newborn babies that were separated from their parents. I honestly don’t want to hear from you if you have to defend this. Please just unfollow. I don’t want to have to explain to you why four month old babies shouldn’t be ripped from their mothers arms while they are breastfeeding. I notice and am skeptical of the continuous insistent language that “this is not America.” I believe that there’s a strong chance all of this language that compares Trump to Hitler, and america’s “tent camps” to German concentration camps is all in an effort to paint what’s going on as un-American, to distance white American liberals from being participants in colonial violence. There’s nothing historically un-American about separating, killing, and raping (see my story for that one, trigger warning advised) families of color. How did this country start again?
