@lavernecox : Shout out to everyone on my team. It takes a lot of people to make a career. My agents, manager, publicist, lawyer, business managers, stylist, makeup artists, hairstylists. Shout out to my friends, fans and followers. My team is nothing without you. Thank you all for being on my team. Yesterday I was on a set, doing essentially what I did in my bedroom in Mobile, Alabama growing up a poor, gender nonconforming black kid. Getting to live my dream of being a performer, my life long dream, is still so remarkable to me. That I get to be a performer with a purpose bigger than me is even better. My 9 year old self can't believe I have such a big team. She is like, "WOW!!!!!"😍💃😭 ... I have lived the part of my life that has encompassed being a public figure so very imperfectly but, of course no one is perfect. I have learned that part of being a public figure is that I will disappoint some people. I have disappointed many of you and quite possibly will again. I am doing the best I can, trying to balance being an artist with a purpose, with setting appropriate boundaries while tending to my psychological and emotional well being as well as my physical health. Far too often I still move through the world finding myself hijacked by past traumas and shame. But I can testify that with much hard work this has gotten better. I must shout out all the therapists I have had over the years and all those who have helped to guide me spiritually in my journey of healing. . . One of the things I am most grateful for today is that I remain teachable. It's not always comfortable (in fact it usually isn't) but I am still willing to listen and to learn, to grow, to change, to evolve. ... #TransIsBeautiful @ursulastephen hair @theladydeja makeup @christinajpacelli styling
