@oliviamunn : Incredibly humbled to be receiving the #GirlHero award from @girlupcampaign + @unitednations. Especially when it’s for doing something that is just so obvious. Over the last month, ‪people have asked a lot if I was afraid. The answer, quite simply is, no. ‬⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ‪I’m not a very scared person in the traditional sense. ‬ ‪I’m far more afraid of continuing to be trapped in a world where I can’t speak up, where my voice doesn’t matter, where I can’t help make a difference. Not speaking up just enables that world and the people who succeed within that frame work. ‬⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ‪Each time, I’ve asked myself what would I be protecting by not speaking up. ‬⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ‪Instead of doing the right thing, what’s the value of the thing I’m protecting? ‬⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ‪I have my family, dogs, friends, my health, the ability to work... So when I weigh those values against not speaking out, there’s no contest. ‬⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ‪Is it worth losing a little bit of my soul, my integrity, compromising my own self identity. Even if no one else would know, ‬I couldn’t walk around knowing that I knew something and did nothing. ‬⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ‪If you wait to only say something when your reputation is in question, instead of when it really matters, nothing changes. ‬⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ‪I truly believe sometimes certain things happen to individuals, not simply to survive them or make it through without causing any waves, but to face the rain, walk straight into it and change the course of the storm. ‬⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ‪Be the person you hoped you would be. ‬Together, we can create enough positive energy to cover the world, touch every corner of it and help to change it for the better. 💖💕 #dreambigprincess
