@katiecouric : Hi everyone! Today’s #WednesdayWomen is my amazing friend Noor Tagouri (@noor). Noor is a 24 year old Muslim-American #journalist. From a young age, she was always obsessed with storytelling and knew she wanted to have a career as a news anchor. She was always told that her decision to wear a hijab would be considered a hindrance for her, and would prevent her from achieving her dreams. She ignored the naysayers and began to realize that wearing her hijab actually gave her an advantage. “This was my eureka moment - I realized that my strength lies in using my own identity to build trust with people who’ve never trusted mainstream media to tell their story before. These were the stories I was meant to be covering.” Her newest project, premiering next week on October 10th is a new investigative podcast series called “Sold in America” an 8 episode journey into the world of selling sex in the US.
