About 20 years ago, I would pick a month randomly to go perform weekly at the Laugh Factory on Sunset Blvd. I’d jokingly refer to it as my “mini residency.” It eventually started getting buzz, creating a line around the block every week. This led to me getting the “My Life on the D-List” gig. I was honestly just doing it for fun, yet it led me to an amazing opportunity that changed my career forever. This month, I’m doing the same thing…except this time, I’m doing a brand new hour every week. I sincerely wasn’t even sure if 30 people would show up. Much to my surprise, the first two weeks have been sold out. I bring my mom’s old egg timer on stage so that I don’t go over the hour.. (As some of you know, I have a comedy disorder where I tend to do three hours). When that timer buzzes, I stop the show regardless of what I’m discussing or even if I’m in the middle of a sentence. The following week, I pickup exactly where I left off, making it a living stand up comedy episodic series with a cliffhanger every week! I also wear pajamas, because dammit, it’s 9:45pm and I know most of you LA people have to wakeup at 5am for the gym… I sincerely want to thank you guys for posting positive comments on my social from around the world! As most of you know, it’s been a heavy couple of years. Getting back to standup has been the most fun and rewarding experience I’ve had in a long time. THANK YOU!
