Josephine Baker takes the stage (and Paris) by storm as Alwina, a Tunisian "Eliza Doolittle" who is transformed into the goddess "Princess Tam Tam." Hollywood censors blocked the film from being shown in mainstream theaters in the United States (it was shown in some Black theaters) and it was not widely seen again until it was restored and screened in 1989.
