@joshgad : Starting tonight, a cinema near you will give you two dog movie options to take your family to. The decision will be difficult. One of them involves a love story with a dog trying to get back to the family he’s been tasked with guiding. The other involves Keanu Reeves killing around 352 people with the help of Halle Berry and two dogs in retaliation for the death of a third dog from two movies ago. One involves a dog whose thoughts narrate the movie and the other involves a main character who has less dialogue than a 1920’s Charlie Chaplin film. One involves a daughter trying to make peace with her mother while the other involves a trained Assassin trying to make peace with a murder syndicate that operates off of strange 14th Century bronze coins. The truth is, there is no choice, you should go see both. Having seen both, I can tell you they’re equally awesome although tackling the story of canine love from fairly different approaches. But if John Wick 3 happens to be a little too hardcore to take the atypical child who doesn’t usually watch movies with wall to wall hand to hand combat-murder and a steady stream of f-bombs, please allow A Dog’s Journey to fill the void. You won’t regret it.
