@clarencehouse : Today, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited Merseyside. Their Royal Highnesses met The President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins and his wife Mrs Sabina Higgins at the University of Liverpool to celebrate the long history and relationship between the city and the country of Ireland. The Prince and The President also signed a charter to take on a joint Patronage of the Institute of Irish Studies. The Prince and The Duchess have visited Ireland on many occasions including most recently in June 2018. Their Royal Highnesses also met members of the Irish community at a reception and people in the crowds which had gathered. #RoyalVisitMerseyside
