@katiecouric : Today I wanted to shine a light on a woman I deeply admire, Madonna Badger, for her ability to find purpose in the face of unimaginable pain and grief. Madonna lost her three young daughters and parents in a fire seven years ago, something none of us can, or want to even imagine. After contemplating ending it all, she chose to live. Returning to her work as the founder and chief creative officer of Badger and Winters, an agency she started when she was 29, “gave her a sense of dignity,” and she began to focus on the way girls and women are portrayed and objectified in advertising. She has produced @womennotobjects @caliabycarrie a film featuring @carrieunderwood about the importance of sports for girls and #weseeequal about defying gender stereotypes. She also has a big campaign coming out in the September issue of Vogue! By changing the images of girls and women in media, she’s changing how we see ourselves and our potential.
