So proud of the extraordinary work you’ve done. I was actually shocked reading this book. Kind of crazy how little dialogue there is around the topic of forgiveness. Who is supposed to teach us? Parents? Friends? School? TV? Politicians? How do we do it? Why should we do it? What if we don’t want to forgive? What if we hate someone so much we will never forgive them? Etc. The 22 people interviewed in Katherine’s book share their journeys of overcoming unimaginably traumatic offenses. Their faith, grace, grit and openness is sure to inspire anyone who reads their stories. I want to say thank you to the subjects of this book for your openness. I truly believe you’re part of something far greater than we can comprehend. I pray this book is the beginning of a healing movement in this country and around the world.

Happy Fourth!! I really respect the author Jack Carr. His books are really cool. And he fought for his country. Today we Americans celebrate with parades, fireworks, laughs, love and family. I really like what Jack has to say below. I personally believe it’s important to reflect upon the idea of America. Any institution made by humans is bound to be imperfect. But it is our responsibility to strive to improve, to form a “more perfect union”. What can we do? How can we heal this growing divide? I feel like recognizing the fact that nobody is perfect is a start. It allows us to judge less, to realize despite our differences we have common ground And what is our common ground? In the words of Abraham Lincoln “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Sounds good to me! Quick edit: Yes, Jefferson wrote the words and later Lincoln spoke them. Interesting point to see how that idea evolved to mean so much more by then. What can it mean today? We continue to evolve. RIP “Magnus” Our magnificent gentle Tamworth giant fell ill and passed away two days ago. This was a hard one. He was as cuddly as a 700lb boar could be. We’ll miss him. He had the biggest nuts of any mammal I’d ever seen in person. I’ll miss seeing those bowling ball size testicles waggle to and fro as he rooted for hazelnuts in the hay. #farmlife 😢🙏♥️✝️

Here are twin Suffolk lambs, “Blackbelt” and “Quicksilver.” These Suffolk Sheep descended from a nearly wild breed of Island Sheep, over three human family generations and dozens and dozens of lamb generations, becoming incredibly hardy. Before coming to our farm the entire herd gave birth in the fields with no veterinary help whatsoever. With no man made shelter, no medicine, no hoof trimming and no supplemented nutrients only the strongest survived. The result is an incredibly athletic, wild and unusually hardy sheep, which when full grown can easily jump a 5 foot fence. Ask me how I know! One of them jumped head first into my chest at a full run and nearly knocked the wind out of me. I was brought back to my days as an all area inside linebacker. Point being, I was an all area inside linebacker. Nonetheless, we’ve had many unique challenges trying to domesticate these wild little Suffolk. But it’s working! Amazingly mama didn’t mind as we picked up her babies. Our hope is in a couple generations they will become as calm and fearless as the other domesticated breeds.

We thank and pray for the firefighters who are doing such incredible work, night and day, to save homes, people and animals. So many people are now left needing to rebuild and start over. Our dear friend Will Thach lost his home in the Malibu Woolsey Fire. Will has been with our family--and in all of our lives--for over 15 years. He is without a doubt the happiest, most selfless human and has helped us all in countless ways. That said, it’s time for us to put our forces together and turn to help him in this time of need. Will has passionately been working on his house for the past 10 years. This was his favorite hobby and something he took great pride in. During the fire, Will not only lost his home, but also all 3000 copies of his precious children’s Christmas book he has worked so hard on. The beautiful home he built by hand for so long, for himself and his dog, Welly, including all of his possessions and memories of passed family members that were kept inside that house, are all gone. While Will is beyond devastated, he is deeply grateful for his support system and all of those who have reached out to help him. During this disheartening time, we wanted to create a page dedicated to help rebuild Will’s home and his life in Malibu Lake. Any amount donated will help and is much appreciated. The link for his go fund me page is in my bio and in my stories as a swipe up. All of the proceeds are going directly to Will, who is looking forward to getting his hands back on rebuilding this house. I actually had a nightmare last night that I was hours away from a real mma fight. I still had 25 lbs to cut. I was terribly underprepared and alone. No trainers. No friends. My phone was dead. I was hungover. Sick. I saw the kid I was fighting and I knew he was gonna beat me up. I was scared. That’s the anxiety I get sometimes. That I’m not working hard enough. That I’m not prepared. Jack and I share a moment of appreciation on the last day of this amazing tree’s life. Born in 1837 (the same year as “Wild Bill” Hickok!!!) She lived through the civil war, both world wars, the San Juan Island Pig war and more. Mother Nature struck her down. Now this first generation Douglas Fir will be made into beloved pieces of art, mantles and a table from which my family will enjoy moments and meals for, God willing, many generations. Another extraordinary day at the farm!! Today we cut down this gorgeous old growth Douglas Fir. 181 years old!! She was struck by lightning and her top had begun to rot. So instead of becoming bug food she’ll be made into furniture for my house in LA! We used a chainsaw mill to cut 5” thick x 20’ long slabs which will be shipped to @nickofferman ‘s wood shop in LA where he will Ron Swanson the hell out of it and make me the dopest table in history fit for a family of Vikings!!! #farmlife #KeAkua

Here’s another segment from behind the scenes of #jurassicworld I had to poke a little fun at @tomcruise (maybe my favorite actor) as the crew told me he had a very impressive breath hold. Much better than mine. I believe they said 4 minutes? Anyways. He’s amazing. He sets the bar when it comes to actors doing their own stunts and also being really nice. From what I hear. It was honor to work with the men and women who worked with him. And also to swim in a pool filled with their urine.

Right as we arrived to the red carpet a torrential rain/hail storm exploded from the sky. Everyone got soaked!! And they still stayed! I’m so grateful. Happy Mother’s Day Mom!! You were always there to shower us with unconditional love and affection. Always. Thank you. You taught me how to act- (You should have seen the over the top performance she’d put on when my brother, sister or I would clean the house.) She’s always been proud of all her kids. No matter what she’s had our backs. There was never a question in any of our lives whether or not we were loved. Ever. You made us confident. You gave us grit. You kept us grounded. You gave us hair cuts and made us meals. You worked your ass off checking groceries for years, for us. You consistently whoop our butts in poker, cribbage, rummy and every other game.
