@katiecouric : Tomorrow is the 55th anniversary of JFK’s assassination, but instead of commemorating his death, I wanted to celebrate his life with some wonderful photographs that remind us of the days of Camelot. Fun fact - the Kennedys became associated with Camelot after JFK’s death. Jackie Kennedy took it upon herself to make sure her husbands legacy endured - so just four days after JFK’s burial, Jackie invited a Life magazine reporter to the White House and told wonderful tales about her husband’s first 1,000 days in office. She was inspired by JFK’s favorite Broadway musical - Camelot - a story about a mythical world ruled by King Arthur where goodness reigned supreme. “Don’t let it be forgot, that for one brief, shining moment there was Camelot.” ☺️ PS: I could spend all day looking at photos of the Kennedys, couldn’t you?! #jfk #jackiekennedy #kennedy #jfkassassination #rip #love. PS I remember when I heard the news. I was in first grade watching a show about animals. Mrs. Myers rushed in and whispered something to Mrs. Lowry, my teacher and they started to cry. They let us out early and we watched the funeral on our black and white TV set. 😥
