@katiecouric : These are some of the victims of the Sri Lanka terror attacks that occurred on Easter Sunday. The death toll currently stands at 290, with over 500 people injured. My heart breaks for all the families and friends of the victims and for the senseless hate and violence that is happening in the world right now. 💔 It is sickening. Please pray for these families. ▪️Kieran Shafritz de Zoysa Kieran was a fifth grader at Sidwell Friends school in Washington DC. He had been on a leave of absence and was living in Sri Lanka “Kieran was passionate about learning, he adored his friends, and he was incredibly excited about returning to school,” said Rachel Kane, the middle school principal. ▪️Anita Nicholson, Alex Nicholson, and Annabel Nicholson The Nicholson family was on vacation in Sri Lanka, and were eating breakfast at their hotel when the bomb went off. Anita, Alex (14), and Annabel (11) were killed instantly, and their father, Ben Nicholson survived. “Mercifully,” Ben said, “all three of them died instantly and with no pain or suffering.” ▪️Zayan Chowdhury Zayan (8) was the relative of a prominent Bangladeshi politician. Zayan was eating breakfast on the ground floor of his hotel with his father when the blast went off. ▪️Nisanga Mayadunne and Shantha Mayadunne Shantha was a celebrity chef in Sri Lanka who had her own cooking show. She offered classes for locals and tourists and focused on quick and easy meals. She and her daughter, Nisanga were killed in the Shangri-La Hotel explosion. They were there enjoying an Easter breakfast with their family. ▪️Dieter Kowalski Dieter, a 40 year old Denver resident was on a business trip to Sri Lanka. It was his second visit to the country in three years and “He was really happy to go there,” said his mother Inge, “He was looking forward to the food.” He was in line waiting to get breakfast at his hotel when the bomb went off. “He was a happy guy,” said his mother, “We are all in shock.” #srilanka #restinpeace #remembertheirnames
