We always have many students who have just arrived from the DR and PR; after Hurricane Maria, we are seeing many more students. These families shouldn’t have to worry about school supplies - my wishlist has pens, pencils, folders and ink for our classroom printer. I also am hoping I can revive the biography section in our classroom library - we have lots of Wright Brothers and John F Kennedy books, but no Lin Manuel Miranda or Katherine Johnson; my students need to learn that there are people with their background who have achieved amazing things that they can look up to."
