@clarencehouse : The Duke of Cornwall, as The Prince of Wales is known in the county, today visited the coastal town of Newquay and nearby Nansledan. 🌊 During the visit, it was announced that His Royal Highness has become Patron of Surfers Against Sewage, a charity working to tackle plastic pollution and protect the UK’s coastlines. The Prince has been a long-time advocate for ocean health and attended an Ocean Plastic Solutions Day in 2018, hosted by the charity. ✏️ At Nansledan School, His Royal Highness met the new school’s first class of students and their teachers. Nansledan is an extension built on Duchy of Cornwall land that embodies the principles of architecture and urban planning championed by The Prince of Wales. 🧶 The Prince also toured the factory floor at @celticandco shoemakers, following the production process of one of their signature slippers, from raw sheepskin to final product. HRH had a go at cutting sheepskin into shapes to make slippers! The company uses only sustainable material, such as wool and linen, for their clothing and footwear, employs over 50 local staff. As Patron of the @campaignforwool The Prince of Wales is passionate about the promotion of wool as “one of the most resilient, ecological and sustainable natural fibres in the world.” 📸 PA
