@abbiecornish : 🙏🏼 #Repost @shareenaclanton ・・・ At this point in the political debate and after all I had said about inclusivity and our truth in our lived in experiences, they still wanted to speak over and for Aboriginal Australia and act as if we were not even in the room. I say we because there was a collective demographic of Indigenous people in the studio audience. To those who continue to get defensive, I say to you... Stop talking for us. Stop talking like we don’t exist. Stop talking on behalf of our “good interests”. Stop holding the microphone and dictating further policies and procedures that are damaging our communities, destroying our lives and killing our people. Stop telling us in our justified passions, rage and hurt that we are nothing but “melodramatic” and “angry”. Stop dismissing our lived in experiences. Stop turning our truths into lies. Stop silencing our voices. Stop tearing us down in order to maintain power and authority. Stop thinking only white men should be in control. Stop thinking we are the enemy. Stop telling us we don’t belong and to “get over it”. Stop ignoring our history. Stop denying the massacres. Stop spreading lies about the ongoing measures in place that want to exterminate us. Stop pretending it’s okay. Stop the mining companies from poisoning our water. Stop the authorities from forcibly removing our children. Stop the systemic powers from getting away with murder. Stop the authorities from unfairly targeting, beating and locking us up. Stop the dangerous lies that we are all inept parents fuelled by nothing other than drugs and alcohol. Stop the mining companies from bringing drugs and alcohol into communities. Stop telling us we aren’t doing enough. Stop misconstruing our innate truth into us “creating” and/or “screaming” an “us vs. them” mentality, when it’s not true. Stop denying our basic human rights. You are losing power and that is what the backlash of fear, anger and hatred is when we stand up and say ENOUG
