@sophiabush : [part 2] I also had the honor of listening to — and spending one on one time with — virtually all of the Democratic candidates at the #GunSenseForum. They all made brilliant points. From @kamalaharris pointing out that Trump — who has been cited as a motivation for violent crime BY violent criminals 36 times in 2.5 years (for the record, both Bush and Obama were cited ZERO times in domestic terrorism attacks) and has been cited more times in attacks on our homeland in the last three years than any other person or organization on earth — may not have pulled the trigger but “he’s certainly been tweeting out the ammunition” to these domestic terrorists. To @pete.buttigieg rightly pointing out that we have already drawn a line when it comes to the right to bear arms. “Somewhere between a water balloon and a predator drone, we drew a line. The line needs to move.” He agrees, as most folks with his type of military background do, that weapons of war have no place on our streets. @kirstengillibrand, @elizabethwarren, @juliancastrotx, all made BRILLIANT points about the realities facing our communities across the country. As did @corybooker And @betoorourke, who couldn’t be there but still took the time to send in videos in support. Not one person from the GOP attended, or weighed in. Perhaps because they’ve been bought and paid for to the tune of $36.6 million (contributed to Trump alone) by the NRA. They may control the senate now, but WE HAVE THE POWER to VOTE THEM OUT and at least TRY harder for our kids and our communities. And try we must. We do not have to live like this. We do not have to die like this. Let’s clean it up already. Thank you to the candidates for showing up and speaking truth to power. The Moms and Dads and survivors for showing up for those who can’t.
