@mattmcgorry : "You Have The Right To Remain Fat" by Virgie Tovar ( @virgietovar ) # Wheeeeeeewwwww. This is a tiny book but it packs such a huge punch. Every sentence is a gem and every page a manifesto that breaks down fatphobia and other intersecting forms of oppression with precision. I frequently found myself nodding my head (perhaps too aggressively) as I read along, and excitedly sharing excerpts with my friends. This will definitely be one of my go-to books to recommend for people interested in understanding anti-fatness and how it is a necessary part of social justice. Just read a few of the pages and you can see why for yourself. I think it’s also an important read for people that are interested in body positivity whose bodies may not be the *most* marginalized. As with any other movement for social justice, those of us with more privilege need to be intentional with our practice of allyship. Learning about how we have privilege, even when we are working through our own struggles with body image, is essential to making sure that the most marginalized are not left behind.
