@vanderjames : Here’s an anti-bullying proposition: Give people in this country the freedom to define themselves as what they are... to identify as what they know deep in their hearts to be. The president’s efforts to take away #transgender as a definition is a wedge issue deliberately brought out to drive people who don’t understand it to the polls to vote for his party. It’s calculated fear tactics... and the victims are a group of human beings who are already more likely to be murdered than any other demographic. Think about that. Think about that really hard if your reaction is: “It’s not that big a deal,” or if you’ve been told this is simply making sense of an overly PC culture. You may not get trans... you might think it’s strange if you haven’t been exposed to it... but you cannot deny that it IS. I happen to have just worked with a number of trans people who were strong, thoughtful, empathetic, talented and certainly worthy of kindness, consideration and human dignity... but for those who may not have had the benefit of my experience, ask yourself this: Do we want to live in a country that is free? Or one in which we let the government place limits on what we’re allowed to say we are? Vote however you need to... I just don’t like bullies, and when I woke up to see friends of mine marginalized and further endangered because the calculation was made that doing so would benefit one party in a mid-term... I had to offer up a little perspective. 🌈
