@bobsaget : Repost from @srfcure - This past weekend, we received the heartbreaking news that SRF Investigator Dr. Nadia Morgan passed away in a fatal car accident in Baltimore. Nadia was a caring physician and tireless advocate for scleroderma patients. Nadia was also a distinguished researcher, and an integral member of the research team of the SRF-funded GRASP Project (the largest genomic study of African American scleroderma patients). Nadia was born and raised in Jamaica and comes from a family of female physicians. In addition to her role as an Instructor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she completed her fellowship training in Rheumatology and obtained her MHS, Dr. Morgan received the prestigious American College of Rheumatology Distinguished Fellow Award in 2016.  She also proudly became a United States citizen in 2016. Dr. Morgan was a commanding presence with a gentle spirit. Like the ginger beer she liked to drink, she was sweetness, tempered with a bit of spice. She was a dear friend and colleague to many of us at the SRF, and we are deeply saddened by this news. Dr. Morgan, thank you for the powerful contributions to research you made in your lifetime. Thank you for always looking out for patients and their families. And most of all, thank for being a constant source of hope and inspiration in the scleroderma community. Our deepest condolences to your family and community. Rest in peace.
